Meet the Team
Malcolm and Amy Davidson are our joint Managing Directors, forming the company back in 2009. With over 20 years’ broking experience - despite his youthful appearance* – Malcolm’s an acknowledged mortgage expert.
Malcolm is very “hands on,” personally dealing with clients daily and sharing his knowledge via his own YouTube channel! His ambition? Simply to promote our 5-Star service as widely as possible, his responsiveness and communication skills being almost legendary! Hobbies include reading about, talking about and blogging about mortgages! He even dreams about them!
Most embarrassing moment - accidentally locking himself inside the bathroom of a client’s house!* The editor would like to point out that we were contractually obliged to include this sub-sentence.
With impeccable timing Chris started his mortgage career in 2007 – immediately before the credit crunch!!
A proud Liverpudlian, he’d previously worked in the motor industry down in “that London,” but has, nevertheless retained a modicum of sanity. Having already worked past his intended retirement date of 50 (where did it all go wrong?), Chris holds the simple ambition of putting more back in to Society than he takes out - a philosophy his customers definitely benefit from. Another of Chris’ philosophies – “Don’t worry about whether your glass is half-full or half-empty. Get to the bar and get a round in!”
Paul (or “The Heff,” as he’s affectionately known by colleagues) has interspersed his 30-year career in financial services with an eight-year spell running his family’s butchery business so, as well as knowing his way around a mortgage, he can rustle you up a rissole or beef up your bangers!
Paul loves the face-to-face nature of our customer relationships, though admits he’s glad we have an admin team to support him, as he’s much less keen on the paperwork! Away from work, he manages his son’s rugby union team and supports the Salford Red Devils…which is a rugby league team (well…almost!)
Steve has been in the financial services industry from the age of 18 and mortgages since the 1990s, having originally held the “dream” of becoming a Bank Manager!!!
A dedicated family man, Steve is not really one for following “icons,” believing that the real heroes in our Society are people who work in the emergency services, hospitals and charities and who all do great work. Being somewhat “follically challenged,” it’s no surprise that Steve’s most embarrassing moment came when standing under the naked flame of a gas lamp in an old-fashioned pub, long enough for his hair to catch fire!
Wayne started as a trainee manager with Nationwide the day after Paul Young hit the number 1 spot with "Wherever I lay my hat...."
Having held a number of Area Manager and Business Development roles over the years, he has bored his colleagues rigid with his tales of the 1980s market since joining as one of our mortgage and protection advisors in 2015. Other annoying traits include telling us about when he had a perm (he prefers the term “body wave”), singing in the office and complaining about how lenders can’t make common sense decisions like in the old days!"
Chris has worked in this industry for nearly ten years. Before that he’d been a roofer, a builder and a bartender so, not only can he help you find the mortgage to finance your home, he can repair it for you whilst fixing you a cocktail!
Chris is an avid sports fan, though participation is now limited to the occasional jog. He loves helping customers achieve their dreams but did once have his own nightmare moment. Having attended an estate agency viewing, he then had to head back right across town to lock the front door he’d left wide open!
Jason joined the company as an advisor back in 2015. Having previously worked for the Lloyds Banking Group as an insurance specialist, he was initially amazed that anyone other than Halifax actually provided mortgages! Fortunately, he’s a quick learner.
You only have to read the reviews posted about him to understand how hard he works for his customers. Indeed, so much time does he dedicate to clients, office based colleagues have been known to go weeks without actually seeing him! Away from work, his main hobbies are waiting for “Super Dry” clothes deliveries and picking up his two dogs’ poo.
Chris’ early career proved him to be a bit of a jinx. Originally starting out with Comet, from 1997 onward he worked in a number HSBC branches – all of which subsequently closed, and Comet went bust!
A proud husband and father of three, super-fit Chris spends most of his day eating (regularly and often) before heading off to the gym to flex his muscles. Perhaps it was his bulging thighs which led to him splitting his trousers early one morning and having to work all day with his undies on display. Clearly he’s never heard of a needle and thread!
