£28k vs £623k: Merseyside’s least and most expensive homes are just 3 miles apart

There was a half a million pound difference between the cheapest and most expensive homes sold in Merseyside – despite them being only a few miles apart.

A modest flat located on the edge of Southport Marine Lake sold for just £28,000 in July, which was the last recorded month for house sales in the area.

Just three miles up the road a four bedroom detached property on the desirable Granville Road went for £623,000.

Shrouded in privacy, the property sits down a hidden driveway with an underground car garage.

With four bedrooms, three bathrooms and three reception areas, this detached Granville Road property was the most expensive property sold on Merseyside in July.

It topped a list of properties in sought-after locations like Crosby, Formby and Heswell.

The cheapest home sold on Merseyside in the same period was a flat in Sunnyside Court on Avondale Road in Southport.

Other two bedroom properties in the same flat block are still on the market for just under £30,000.

All of the ten most expensive properties sold in the area were detached houses in Southport, Formby, Rainford or Wirral.

However – the third priciest property was actually a flat on Church Road in Formby which sold for a whopping £575,000.

According to the Land Registry, 26,773 residential sales have been registered from July 2017.

Across England and Wales, there were 569 sales over £1m, including 109 properties that went for over £2m.

The most expensive residential sale in July 2017 was of a terraced property in the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea for £9,360,000.

By comparison the cheapest residential sale in July 2017 was of a terraced property in Bishop Auckland, County Durham for £18,750.

The Land Registry lists the price paid for every property bought at market value.

The data also includes sales under a power of repossessions, buy-to-lets and transfers to non-private individuals.
